A day at the petting zoo...
So a couple of weeks ago, I left my camera with a girlfriend and just got it back today. So these pictures are from a couple of weeks ago...
This is from the petting zoo and train near our house. Colton absolutely LOVES it here and we have so much fun every time that we go. He's always off like lightning when we're there, so pictures are hard to come by... But here he is!!! (he's obsessed with animals right now...)

Just hanging out with the cows:

and we're off...

"Come ooon Daddy!!!"

The tale of A&W
I'm less than enthused...
I hadn't eaten all day yesterday and after getting our taxes done (where I literally started crying when I heard how much we were getting back because it was beyond my wildest dreams....) I couldn't wait any longer and so I had Kevan stop at a&w for a burger.
I was super pissed because they had this awesome mushroom/onion burger that I wanted with all of my being and was super psyched for only to find out that they no longer served them, but just hadn't taken the promo thing down yet. How nice.
So then I order my 10 million dollar burger meal (okay, $7, but still. how outrageous) and we get up to the window... She hands me my soda with no straw and I'm so thirsty that I rip off the top and just start drinking.... Yeah... 10 minutes later (okay, maybe 5) I'm still sitting at the window waiting for my mortgage payment burger and three orders of fries...
Chica (with so much facial jewelry that I was mentally threading twine through it) finally gets back to the window to tell me that she's just waiting on my burger. I hand her my soda and ask for a refill while I wait.... She asks if there is something wrong with it... What... besides the fact that I've been sitting at the drive-thru window long enough to drink a large soda??
I get my new soda and ask for a straw this time (random apparently... I guess most a&w guests don't use straws????) and then a couple of minutes later we finally get our food...
we pull away.. I think that life is great...
and then I look in the bag.
Even after taking about 2 hours to get our order together, we were short a fry.
ugh... Oh, and my burger was so nasty that I think that they literally just dunked it into grease before wrapping it up. I felt nasty for the rest of the night.
Until 3am when I woke up thinking that someone was holding a knife to my gut. DAMN YOU A&W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup... I spent the next 10 hours getting sick.
Moral of the story: Some things just aren't worth the wait...

Beautiful Colorado
On Saturday, Kevan, Lillian and I drove to Gunnison for Grant and Alisa's wedding. The drive left me utterly speechless and I just can't even believe that I ever left this beautiful state. I sat in the passenger seat just in awe at the mountains, valleys, meadows, hills, plains, deserts and rivers that we drove past.
I didn't take any of these pictures, but I'm going to show you some sort of a picture diary of our drive... Just beautiful. I fell in love with this state all over again this weekend.
This is taken in the park that we watched fireworks on the 3rd... about a mile from our house

We started off our trip in Littleton, CO...

This is along the front range of the Rockies also in Littleton... at Roxborough State Park

And we're off...
here's the hotdog stand in Bailey

View from Ben Tyler Trail, Bailey, CO

Santa Maria, CO the statue up on the mountain

This is the view when you come out of the mountains in Jefferson. About 60 miles from Denver.

Monarch Pass... this is The Great Divide

Notice the lack of guard rails... I was freaked out driving over this pass

This is an old mine that looked like it was about to fall over

these guard rails are to keep snow drifts off of the road in the winter

Kevan kept getting excited about places to go hunting along the way... He figures that if they have signs warning you of the crossing, they've got enough to hunt... All of the elk would be up in the high country right now, so we didn't see any.

the headwaters of the Arkansas River

Here is South Park City... chef was no where in sight...

Here is Mt Anterom it's a 14'er

It was just such a peaceful drive. Poor Kevan probably could have handled more talk out of me, but I was just speechless for a lot of it.
The wedding was beautiful and Lillian was such a doll for it. She slept through the reception and we had so much fun hanging out with everyone. We all promised to visit each other more often, but we've shown that never really happens... I can count on one hand the number of times we've actually made it out to visit each other... But Kevan and I are planning on taking the kids and going to Craig sometime this fall. Colton and Lillian have some friends to hang out with there...
Grant and Alisa are going to Costa Rica for their honeymoon and I'm so jealous. I can't wait to go back there. I can't wait until Kevan and I can actually take a real vacation together!! We didn't get a real honeymoon and I really regret it. We spent ours just trying to find a place to live in NC... I want a nice vacation where we can just relax and not have to drive everyday... Maybe next year we'll go on a fun trip just the two of us...
Oh and you should see the smiles coming out of Lillian... what a beauty!!
